The 16th annual Billericay Fun Walk took place at Barleylands Farm on Sunday.
Phoenix FM were once again out in force, raising money towards the new Studio 1 project.
The gruelling two mile cause was made all the more difficult for the walkers who were trying to look at their phones AND not fall down potholes in the field at the same time.
Over 2,000 walkers raised money for around 100 charities and good causes – each being given a medal at the finish.
The monies raised by the charities at this year’s event will be made known at the Presentation evening in September when bonus pot cheques will be awarded. Organiser John Baron,
“This year’s walk has already been a great success with a record bonus pot of £50,000 yet to be distributed on top of what the 100 local charities have raised courtesy of over 2,000 walkers taking part. Our thanks go to them, to the Marshalls, to the Barleylands team, and to our family of volunteers and Committee members for making it all possible. We now wait to see total monies raised from the charities.”
John also thanked the bonus pot sponsors including Swan Housing Association, c2c Rail Ltd, Abellio Greater Anglia, Hallmark Care Homes, Butyl Products Ltd, Leonardo MW Ltd, Private Ambulance Service Ltd, McDonald’s Basildon, Mr Barrie Stone, IFE Global Logistics and others.
