Billericay dominated the early stages, with Jake Robinson, Danny Fitzsimons and Billy Bricknell all going close.

A clumsy push on Bricknell after 25 minutes led to a penalty, which the Blues’ top scorer duly converted.

Both sides had chances but the score remained 1-0 at half time. Players from Billericay Town’s various Colts teams had an opportunity to play on the pitch at the break.

The Gulls had more chances in the second half with George Sykes finishing well on 55 minutes to equalise.

Bricknell restored the lead 12 minutes later after being fed through by Fitzsimons.

Canvey defended stoutly but Robinson broke clear in the 90th minute and lobbed the keeper, Conor Gough, from 20 yards to seal a 3-1 win.

Other results confirmed that Billericay Town would not reach this season’s play-offs but the club look in good form and will be early favourites for next season’s Ryman League. The Blues climb to 9th and will finish higher with victory at Needham Market in the last game of the season on Saturday.
