Friday Night Extra 24.3.17 with guest Tom Page, folk singer, ukelele player and priest.

Tom Page brought his ukulele and sang and played three contemporary folk songs. He has only being playing just over two years. His set included Romeo and Juliet, written by his friend Ron Truman-Border and a very dark version of Widdicome fayre. He chose a late seventies rock tack, Crying to the sky by Be Bop Deluxe. He said this included a guitar solo that inspired him to learn guitar. He has dabbled with a number of instruments over the years, but has settled on the ukulele. Apparently if you know four cords there are hundreds of songs that can be played. We had another exclusive track from Lisa Harman, Mother and daughter. This was written from the point of view of the mother. You can find out more about her music by searching Lisa Harman-music on Facebook. With his death during the week, we had a feature on Rock and Roll pioneer Chuck Berry. Jonty continued his survey of Beach Boys classics with I get around. We also looked in depth at the music of Hunter Hayes, who is seen as the rising star of the young breed of country musicians. His single Wanted sold over three million copies. We introduce the music of jazz-rock fusion band Blood, Sweat and Tears. More of their music is guaranteed in future weeks. We heard the hit single for 2005 by Bo Bice, who now fronts the touring version of Blood, Sweat and Tears.
