Brentwood Fairtrade organisers were at Woody’s in Shenfield today for their annual review of their group’s activities and to certify organisations who adhere to the group’s aims.
Fairtrade is a social movement whose stated goal is to help producers in developing countries achieve better trading conditions and to promote sustainable farming.
Members of the movement advocate the payment of higher prices to exporters, as well as improved social and environmental standards.
Phoenix FM, represented by Steven Roach, was among the local organisations certified Fairtrade this year.
Also present were Brentwood Fairtrade organisers Caryl Kwei, Marjorie Tulloch and Emma Kindell; Lisa Wickington from Woody’s; and Carolyne Williams and Evie Green from Holly Trees Primary School.
