Billericay Town FC v Burgess Hill – Saturday 11th March

A look ahead from Billericay Town supporter Mike Joyce

2017-01-10-billericay-town-01-john-chubb

It’s been another exciting and disappointing week. On Saturday the team won at Harlow, a game they dominated playing attacking football.

That good result was followed by a 1-0 defeat on Tuesday night at Hendon. With so much talent in the squad goalscoring chances were limited.

The match officials were poor again but that shouldn’t be used as an excuse – we need to create more goal scoring chances and take advantage of them.

Although it will be difficult a playoff place is still a possibility; with 9 games left there are still 27points available. BTFC are on 54 points – in previous seasons 81 points has ensured a playoff place.

A big finish is required and we cannot afford many more setbacks such as the Hendon result. We need more goals from the forwards and strong solid defence. Joe Ellul is available Saturday and Paul Konchesky will be making his home debut.

It’s a big game Saturday 11th March v Burgess Hill, and it requires a big result and importantly a big crowd supporting the team.

The push promotion could continue on Saturday dependant upon the result, playoffs this season would be a big bonus. It was stated in November when the new owner took over that he wanted promotion within 18 months.

Off the field supporters will anticipate continued development of the club, Glenn Tamplin hasn’t been slow in his promises of improving not only the team but also the clubs facilities.

An exciting, attacking game is expected, it would be good to beat the best attendance of the season, that was 561 on the 23rd February. The future appears very good for Billericay’s town football club, come along and see for yourself.
