Leyton Orient continue to struggle at home, after a 2-1 defeat to Blackpool at The Matchroom Stadium.

Jemille Matt for Blackpool gave the visitors the lead with a first half strike inside the box.

Tom Aldred doubled Blackpool’s advantage with the header to move them up to seventh in the league just outside the playoffs, to cancel out a late Paul McCallum header.

Alberto Cavasin named an unchanged lineup that won 3-0 away at Colchester last week.

Blackpool had the first chance of the match, as Brad Potts ran on to a cross field ball inside the box but his shot was denied by Alex Cisak.

Gavin Massey for Orient burst away on the counter-attack from a Blackpool attack, as he played in Jay Simpson who returned it to Massey but his shot was saved and was also given offside.

The visitors struggled in the early stages to find their shooting boots, as the ball dropped to Colin Daniel ball on the edge of the box but blazed his volley well over the bar.

Blackpool took the lead on the half hour mark, as Matt outwrestled Yvan Erichot out wide and cut back inside the box to lash his shot into the roof of the net at the near post.

Orient were in possession in Blackpool’s final third, where Massey went for goal 25-yards out and let rip, as he rattled the post – to deny Orient an instant reply.

The away side had a dangerous free-kick, as Andy Taylor’s low free-kick bent around the wall and was palmed away by Cisak.

Orient had the ball in the net, after Nicky Hunt’s cross was met by Collins who tucked it past Sam Slocombe but the offside flag went up.

The hosts again threatened with the leveller, as Michael Collins volley inside the box from the corner went just over the bar.

Blackpool still looked dangerous, as Daniel squeezed through the Orient defence but Tom Parkes tackle delayed the shot as Daniel was forced wide and his shot was then dealt with by Cisak.

In the second half Blackpool almost grabbed their second, as Kyle Vassell went past Hunt and his strike was saved by Cisak at his near post.

From the resulting corner Blackpool did extend their advantage, as Aldred met the Jack Payne corner at the near post to catch Cisak unaware, despite Orient claims for hand ball waved away by the referee.

Potts nearly got Blackpool’s third, as he lifted the ball over Cisak inside the box but Parkes denied the goal by shepherding the ball away from goal.

Orient substitute Sandro Semedo went for a shot from range but went just wide of the post, as he looked to get the O’s back in the game.
