You may have heard of Southend News Network which is a spoof news website producing some very funny made up stories on local issues and events
Southend News Network was originally started in October 2015 with no real aims or objectives in mind other than to add a satirical/spoof-like touch to issues that people are passionate about. Above all else, SNN is all about having the occasional ‘dig’ at the powers that be.
Well now Southend News Network are taking a crack at the Christmas music charts with a very funny song bemoaning the traffic congestion around the Dartford Crossing.
It’s sung by talented local musician Annie Humphrey who normally performs with local band Frog on a Rocket.
It’s being officially released by a record label on the 2nd of December. Money raised from the release will be going to two charities. The first is Shelter, the second will be the British Heart Foundation in memory Annie’s dad, who died 8 years ago on December the first.
The song on Youtube is a bit sweary but today on Phoenix we had the first play of the official clean version of the song which will be available as a download from 2nd December.
You can watch the Youtube version of the not so clean version here –
