Friday Night Extra 16.9.16 In my life

I was driving to the studio tonight whan I suddenly thought, ‘I am going in the wrong direction’. I made it with fifteen minutes to spare and was greeted by a worried looking Nikki. Jonty was with me tonight as we looked at a number of news stories you might have missed. My favourite was the world’s oldest man, Yisreal Kristal is to hold his bar mitzvah a hundred years late. He missed the original because of World War One. He was born in Poland in 1903 and survived being in the Auschwitz death camp. The 113 year old will have his ceremony with family and friends in a synagogue in Haifa. Amazing. In the second hour we had a musical feature ‘In my life’ featuring a number of songs with the same or similar titles. There were lots of response from listeners. The general agreement that many of them were good, but the stand-out track was from the Beatles. Voted in some lists as the best song of all time.

Tonight’s playlist
Booker T & The MGS – Crazy
Michael Buble – Feeling good
Dolly Parton – Pure and simple
Ward Thomas – Town called Ugley – for Alison listening in Lincoln
Jackson Breit – Signed, sealed, delivered
Stevie Wonder – Signed, sealed, delivered – listeners liked the new version, but prefered the original
Beach Boys – That’s why God made the radio – for Michael, now home from hospital
Pat Boone – The main attraction – for Phyl. This track is just one minute and forty seven seconds long!
Nora Jnes – Carry on
Frank Sinatra & Bono – I’ve got you under my skin- Lee recognised Bono’s voice, as did Adrian.
Diana Ross & The Supremes – Reflections – for Patrick
Jamie Lawson – In your own words
Adele – Cold shoulder
Vanessa Mae – Classical gas
Chaerles Keeley – The driver
Beatles – In my life
Billy Joel – In my life
The Animals – Its my life
No Doubt – Its my life
Talk Talk – Its my life – requested by Rene
Smokie – Its your life
James Morrison – Don’t stop the rain – for Chris in Harlow
Justin Meade – The power of love – hear Justine in Ingatestone Parish Church on Saturday 24th
Denyse Donnel – Baby mine – Denyse will be my guest on September 30th.
Ben E. King – Stand by me
John Lodge – Is’t life strange
Big Country – Wonderland – for Adrian who loves the band.
John Michele Jarre – Oxygene part 4
