Mental health problems affect one in four of us yet people are still afraid to talk about it. For people with mental health problems not being able to talk about it can be one of the worst parts of the illness. So by getting people talking about mental health we can break down stereotypes, improve relationships, aid recovery and take the stigma out of something that affects us all.
That’s what Time to Talk Day is all about so today we took some time to talk and my guests were Lucy Gill, Brian Jackson and Vanessa Dodds, along with Phoenix FM’s Scott W.
Lucy Gill is Community Officer at Brentwood Borough Council, and Mental Health Champion Officer for the Mental Health Challenge in Brentwood.
Brian Jackson is Manager at SEPT for the Brentwood Resource Centre, secondary mental health services.
Vanessa Dodds is the Brentwood Billericay Basildon and Wickford Cluster Lead at SEPT for Therapy for You, primary talking therapy.
