The Curve Of The Earth comes to Southend

[mixcloud height=120 width=620]https://www.mixcloud.com/phoenixfm/interview-with-the-mystery-jets-southend-20-jan-2016/[/mixcloud]

We caught up with the Mystery Jets halfway through a tour of record shop performances, which took them to the South Record Shop in Queens Road, Southend on a very cold Wednesday lunchtime.

The band have recently released their new album fifth studio album Curve Of The Earth and played a 40-minute set with a selection of songs from that album. The band also played a couple of oldies and finished their set with a cover of Five Years in tribute to David Bowie. And despite being at a time when everyone should be at school or work, the shop was packed to its limit!

After the show I had a chat with Blaine, Will and Jack from the band about the making of the new album, the creative processes and how they’re more driven than ever to keep writing great songs.

The band will be playing The Electric in Brixton on 16 February and they will also be bringing their new and old songs to a number of festivals in the summer. You can keep track of what they’re up to by visiting their official site and by following their Facebook and Twitter pages.
