Beaten, abused and illiterate – now Billericay’s Paul Connolly is a best selling author

The Phoenix Feature presents: Paul Connolly

If Paul had one word to describe himself it would be “lucky” as he laughed his way through the start of my interview.

However Paul hasn’t always had the privilege of a relaxed and happy lifestyle which he enjoys now. Paul was abandoned at birth and “found by the bins” 2 weeks after being born, and then taken into care where he was continuously beaten and verbally abused on a daily basis.

It wasn’t until he joined a nearby boxing club “run by local gangsters” where he received help and was fed properly for the first time. Paul then found his inner strength to find a way out of his abusive home and into a world where he would become a fitness instructor to the stars, a best selling author, and a family man.

Paul has now sold over half a million copies of his books ‘Against All Odds‘ and ‘Beating The Odds‘ and is now looking into transforming his story to the big screen.

This story will leave you with your mouth wide open, and wondering how someone had the strength to make it through this incredibly tough and hostile upbringing.
