It was an honour to be at this year’s Memory Walk at Weald Country Park.
Over 1,000 walkers took part in the Brentwood event – 800 more than last year’s event! The walkers were all raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society, who are staging a series of Memory Walks across the UK and hoping to raise over £3 million from this year’s 50,000 participants nationwide.
Phoenix FM provided the entertainment to keep the crowds revved up with Tony Smith once again on microphone duties.
The Mayor of Brentwood, Cllr Mark Reed, officially cut the ribbon to launch the walk.
There were two walks – one of 7 km and one of 1.5 km. Phoenix FM’s Paul Golder went round with the walkers on the longer one, and was very pleased indeed to get over the line in just under an hour and a half!
A big thank you should go to all the volunteers who made this year’s event happen, including Jane and Clare from Bennetts Funeral Directors, who are longstanding supporters of the event and have been in to Phoenix FM in the past to help publicise it.
