Indietracks Festival 2015: The Darling Buds

One of the great bands that soundtracked my late 80s and early 90s, the Darling Buds disappeared from our TV screens (Top Of The Pops AND The Chart Show, no less) after the release of 1992’s Erotica album (which was around about the last time I caught them live, playing a show at the Clapham Grand supporting Kitchens of Distinction).

I could barely believe that I had the chance to see them again last year when they reformed for a gig at the Borderline – and I could believe it even less that I was now sitting on a Newport Transport bus having a chat with Andrea and Matt about the band’s past and future!

Darling Buds 1

The live show was, as ever, a joy to watch – and I didn’t even notice the rain, which I was told was the heaviest of the whole weekend when they were on stage.

Some exciting news came out in the interview – the band have messed around with demos from their unrecorded fourth album and some of the songs are starting to sneak into live sets, and writing and recording new material is very much in the band’s mind at the moment. But you’ll have to listen to the interview to find out whole story there.
