After watching a blistering set from Desperate Journalist on the Indoor Stage on Saturday, I met up with Jo, Rob and Simon for a chat.

We’ve already met lead singer Jo at Phoenix FM – she’s also the lead singer with Joanne Joanne who recorded a fantastic session for us back in April 2013.

Desperate Journalist have been described as “intense and shimmering post-punk”, “powerful, melodic and full of emotion” and “thoroughly ace”, all of which are completely accurate.

We had a chat about the festival, side projects and new recordings.

The band will be touring the UK in October and there will also be a new EP – which is going to be “heavier and softer” – around the same time.
