Show 24 and 25 – ladies week and dangerous poetry readings

On show 24, it was slap bang in between International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day, so what better way to celebrate both occasions than to have an all-women’s show.
Actually, this has been one of my favourite weeks musically. I felt as though this was very varied in styles and genres and looking at the playlist, I am pleased with what I have chosen. So here is some girl power!!!
1. Florence and the Machine – Dog Days Are Over
2. Paramore – Misery Business
3. Avril Lavigne – I Don’t Give
4. Lucy Rose – Red Face
5. Rae Morris – Closer
6. First Aid Kit – Stay Gold
7. Pvris – White Noise
8. Ladyhawke – Manipulating Woman
9. La Roux – I’m Not Your Toy
10. Chvrches – Gun
11. The Naked and The Famous – Jilted Lovers
12. Haim – Forever
13. Fleetwood Mac – Little Lies
14. London Grammar – Strong
15. Lana Del Rey – Video Games
16. Roisin O’Hagan – Dark, Dark Lie
17. Amy Sergeant – Just The Way It Goes
18. Klair Quest – Faith O’Clock
19. Amy Winehouse – Rehab
20. Kate Nash – Pumpkin Soup
21. Elastica – Soft
22. Lauryn Hill – Ex Factor
23. Lianne La Havas – Au Cinema
24. Laura Marling – What He Wrote
25. Katie Melua – The Closest Thing To Crazy
26. Ellie Goulding – Lights
27. Taylor Swift – Treacherous
28. Miss Dynamite – Dy-Na-Mi-Tee
For my 25th milestone show I had something different of not just songs… but poetry too. I had Dangerous Poets in this week, consisting of Sammy Crooks, Cherry Scott, Olmo Lazarus and Snowy. You can find them on Facebook. I picked songs this week that I felt were some of the best lyrically in my playlist (Apart from maybe Pink Floyd, which has no words, just “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHs”), in-between the songs the poets performed some of the pieces they have written…
1. Arctic Monkeys – Crying Lightning
2. Oasis – The Importance of Being Idle
3. Foster The People – Pumped Up Kicks
4. Olmo Lazarus – Most Descends
5. Cherry Scott – Through The Window
6. Mumford and Sons – The Cave
7. Alt-J – Matilda
8. Radiohead – Fake Plastic Trees
9. Snowy – I Sold My Soul Today
10. Sammy Crooks – Job For Life
11. Vampire Weekend – Worship You
12. Frank Turner – Redemption
13. Gorillaz – Superfast Jellyfish
14. De La Soul – Jenifa Taught Me
15. Olmo Lazarus – Raised Afraid
16. Cherry Scott – Through The Window (Part two)
17. The Streets – Sharp Darts
18. Jamie T – Salvador
19. Snowy – Fountain
20. Sammy Crooks – This Time
21. Pink Floyd – The Great Gig In The Sky
22. Elbow – Open Arms
23. Snowy – Wow!
24. Cherry Scott – Untitled
25. Vampire Weekend – A Punk
They did participate in 50 Grades Smarter, they are officially leading with 6 points HOWEVER they did cheat, when the deal was not to discuss answers, they did on a few occasions, and subsequently were deducted points. I am a tough quizmasters.
Next week I have Guildford teenage rockers BlackWaters to come in and play a live set. Tune in. AND REMEMBER TO VOTE ON MY OASIS TOP 20 SHOW. Vote on… https://www.phoenixfm.com/2015/03/21/the-top-20-show-oasis/.
I am also doing the Brighton Marathon on the 12th April, so if you could save a few pennies I would appreciate that a lot. https://www.justgiving.com/chaybrightonmarathon
Till next week, have fun!
