Sound Wave No 4 – Top Gear, Track of the Day, and the Phoenix FM Family

Hello all,

This week in entertainment news I spoke about the Top Gear-Falklands War-number plate scandal and how Jeremy Clarkson had labeled in “terrifying.” The press questioned whether the show had gone too far this time, and accused both producers and presenters, Clarkson, Hammond and May, of deliberately giving the Porsche 928GT a number plate which made a dig at the conflict that had occurred between Britain and the very country they were filming in, Argentina. The number plate which read H982 FKL, sparked riots in the town of Ushuaia in which they were filming, despite the removal of the number plate and informing the authorities before they entered this particular town. Clarkson tweeted as they were escorted out of the country saying “This was not a jolly jape that went awry. For once, we did nothing wrong.” Top Gear’s executive producer, Andy Wilman released a statement saying that, “To suggest that this car was either chosen for its number plate was substituted for the original one, is completely untrue.” In remains to be seen whether the BBC will allow the footage to go out on the forthcoming Christmas special, however today Wilman released a message explaining what really happened.

And in good news it seems being in the right place, at the right time can make all the difference. Paul Ezekiel Fagan from Tampa Bay, Florida, went missing from his Grandma’s house, but when Cameron Polom was sent to cover the story for WFTS he spotted a young boy matching Fagan’s description and the story soon reached it’s conclusion.
