Camexpo was on this weekend. The complimentary and aleternative medicine show. It was full of new and exciting ideas for health and nutrition and this week I thought I’d share my experience with you.
The first thing that struck me about the show was that every other stand was promoting coconuts of some description, either in the form of oil for cooking, oil for wearing or water or milk for drinking. There is no doubt about the beneficial effects of coconut but it does seem that this is the latest fashion that everyone wants a piece of.
So apart from coconuts, I found a great company called Sukrin that produce a great range of products that are free from gluten, egg, sugar, wheat, yeast and soya. There doesn’t seem to be much left, but their bread is amazing. Having tried it myself I can thoroughly recommend it. It comes in easy to use packs, and you just add water and bake. So for a bread making novice or even someone that isn’t too familiar with the kitchen, it is so easy to make. They supply a whole range of other mixes and flours which I am going to try out over the next few weeks.
Two other miracle foods that were launched at the show were Moringa and Baobab. Moringa is the naturally dried leaf of the moringa tree. , and is native to Africa and Asia. It has an exceptionally high antioxidant content; more than goji berries, green tea, blueberries acai and pomegranates which have all been hailed as superfoods recently. It has a spinachy taste and is good to sprinkle on salads or use in soups or shakes.
Baob ab is also from Africa and is the fruit of the baobab tree. It’s a nutrient dense fruit which is an excellent source of vitamin c, calcium, potassium, vitamin b1 and b6. It also has one of the highest antioxidant properties of all fruits, and it helps to support the metabolism , the immune system and promotes good skin.
The other surprising product that I shall now be changing to for ever is pink salt. I didn’t realise the amount of additives that go into producing ordinary table salt. So it’s definitely tie to switch to healthy pink salt which is important in the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach and is used to transport amino acids fro the digestive tract into the blood.
It was a great show with many more interesting products which i shall hopefully update you on in the coming weeks.
