Brentwood Town fail to pick up all three points away at Waltham Abbey as they drew 3-3.

‘The Blues’ missed two penalties one saved before Walthams first goal and the other right at the end put over to miss out on the win.

Courtney White scored an early goal for the away side but Jason Hallet equalised early in the second half. James Peagram put the home side in front but Alex Akofi scored twice to retake the lead but Hallet got a well-earned point for Waltham.

Brentwood once again scored within the second minute after a long ball up to White from Andrew Joslin caught the defence on the back foot and White slotted it past the rushed keeper.

The home side nearly bite back with a bullet header from Hallet but was well held by Ollie Bowles.

Waltham Abbey almost scored from their first corner of the game as Hallet beat Ryan O ‘Rawe in the air but went wide.

The host hit the post from another corner as Captain Darren Williams blasted a shot off the bar which then Matt Attard’s header came off the top of the bar again.

Brentwood got a penalty five minutes in to the second half after Williams brought down White in the box. Akofi stepped up and James May saved it to his right to deny ‘The Blues’ a second.

Waltham Abbey finally broke the Brentwood defence after a terrific save from Bowles from Joe Kizzi which fell to Hallet who fired it into the roof of the net to equalise.

The home side almost took the lead as substitute James Peagram was slotted in but miscued his shot wide of the goal.

Abbey took the lead 68 minutes in through James Peagram after a mistimed header by Louis Baucutt was volleyed in far corner.

Brentwood responded straight away after a great cross by substitute Sam Bantick found Akofi whose header on the run rippled the net.

The away side then went back in front as a corner by Bantick found Akofi on the front post which went in off the crossbar two minutes after their equaliser.

Substitute Danny Dafner’s header came off the bar after he beat his man in the air, which would have secured the three points for the away side.

Hallet grabbed his second eight minutes from time after he turned O’Rawe and he smashed his shot passed Bowles.

Another penalty was given for Brentwood with three minutes remaining after Akofi was brought down and Captain Martyn Stokes put his name on this one but blazed his shot over the bar.

Both sides battled to grab a late winner in injury time but neither side could get a foothold and the points were shared.
