The Brentwood Yoga & Wellbeing Studio celebrated it’s first Birthday by bringing 100 people together to do a mass Yogathon on Shenfield Common in May and raised more than £3,000 much-needed funds for Brentwood MIND – Yesterday they handed over the cheque to Brentwood MIND; supporting local people with mental health issues.
The Yogis (people who do yoga) challenged themselves to do 108 (a sacred number) Sun Salutations, which is an ancient and well-known sequence of 12 postures and breaths that improves your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.
“Yoga and meditation are proven to have a big impact on how we feel therefore it made perfect sense to team up with Brentwood MIND to help local people who are suffering with stress, anxiety, depression, self esteem issues and many other conditions. We had a fantastic day and will be turning it into an annual May event where everyone’s welcome, I’m delighted that we raised so much money as we put it all together in just over a month!” says Jessica Livingstone, Founder of The Brentwood Yoga & Wellbeing Studio.
Back in May, I spoke to Jessica and Jo Kemp about the Yogathon. You can listen to that interview here.
