World Cup Heroes – Daniel Hearn and Lionsraw

With the World Cup nearly upon us, Lionsraw is a movement that mobilises passionate football fans who believe they can make a difference in the lives of others locally and globally. During the World Cup in South Africa 2010 Lionsraw completed 4 build projects; a school building, an orphan home, a school toilet block and a community sport changing facility. They also worked with more than 2000 Zulu children across 7 football schools.

Daniel Hearn from Brentwood will be travelling to Brazil shortly with Lionsraw to do more good work so I was very pleased to welcome Daniel today to talk about the project and the great work they will be doing.

Although Brazil is one of the more developed countries in the World, there is an incredible amount of poverty, and an event like the World Cup could easily pass by the poor and disadvantaged. This month Lionsraw  are taking 300 supporters to host-city Curitiba during the World Cup.

They will be working alongside the city’s football teams to deliver coaching projects alongside several building projects throughout the city.

I asked Daniel to tell us all about it. You can listen to our chat here –

To support this great cause go to lionsraw.org

To donate to their 30 in 30 campaign go to www.justgiving.com/lionsraw-30in30

You can also follow Lionsraw on Twitter – @lionsraw

We’ll be hearing how Daniel and the team got on when he returns from Brazil in a few weeks.
