Now a few weeks ago we were talking about the RNLI and just like them the Air Ambulance service is a charity. Costing over £5m annually to maintain, it is only thanks to the generosity of people across Essex that allows the service to continue and Pam outlined some of the ways that you can get involved – and it can be fun too! Looking at the slightly quirkier side of life, in the second hour of today’s show we heard about the man who was so fed up by all the unwarranted calls he was receiving on his home telephone, trying to sell him something that he’s turned the tables on them. By converting his number into an 0871 premium rate line, he makes money every time he gets a call. Over the past two years he has turned a profit of £300. But the regulator has warned others not to follow this example saying that premium rate numbers are not designed to be used in this way.
