A Rat and a Gag for The Opposition Allegedly

A very busy show to fit into two hours today, but somehow I managed it, with some stuttering along the way!

My guest tomorrow on the show will be talented singer songwriter and musician Adrian Nation. We heard a couple of fantastic tracks from his album Fall or Fly as a preview to his appearance tomorrow on the show and at The Brentwood Festival on Sunday.

In local news, thanks to The Brentwood Gazette we reviewed their story about opposition members at Brentwood Borough Council, who claim they are being “gagged” by a new rule which limits when they are allowed to speak in Town Hall meetings.

Councillors Russell Quirk Karen Chilvers and Mike Le Surf

You can hear my take on this here – [audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Gag1.mp3|titles=Gag]

Finally my good friend and colleague Anne Robinson who does voiceovers for Phoenix from time to time gave me a laugh this morning when she posted this on Facebook –

“Nasty Shock of the Day: putting out the rubbish when I felt something moving around in one dustbin bag. A rat shot out of it, through the back door and into the house, taking cover in my recyling corner. In the words of UB40, “there’s a rat in me kitchen, what am I gonna do?” Nearest I have ever been to becoming hysterical…”

So of course in Anne’s honour I just had to play that UB40 track along with a possible solution – Rat Trap by The Boomtown Rats!

Don’t forget to tune in tomorrow to hear the fantastic Adrian Nation from 1pm
