Friday Night Live – 14 June 2013 with Pastor Lee Stephens by Phoenix Fm on Mixcloud

It was great to be joined in the studio tonight by Pastor Lee Stephens from the Elim Church in Ingatestone. Lee talked about the development of Elim churches and also about the church in Ingatestone. He also talked about growing up in Northern Ireland during the troubles and how he came to faith. It was a fascinating chat.

Requests tonight included Elvis from Phyl, so I had to play Viva las Vegas. For Sue and Leonard in Kentucky we had Donny and Marie Osmond and Its a Beautiful Life from their Vegas show, which I am lucky enough to have seen. Michael wanted Martha Reeves and the Vandellas Dancing in the Street. Susan and Ian anything by Kenny G, so we had Songbird. Rene requested Billy Joel. Lots of activity in the chatroom tonight. We also had Flying Lizards and Money to go with a story about a Chinese woman putting £42,000 in a dawer in her house and having it eaten by termites. Heroes by David Bowie went with the story of someone in USA finding a copy of edition one of Superman being used as wall insulation. Though damaged it sold at auction this week for £114,ooo. We has Flying by Cast to go with passengers sitting four hours on the runway at Las Vegas and being recorded singing the line form the R Kelly song that goes ‘I believe that I can fly’. We also had tracks from Adele, Alison Moyet, Jamie Cullum, Caro Emerald, Lady Antebellum, Eagles, Beach Boys, Peter Cincotti, Toto and others. They can all be downedloaded from the recorded show.

Join me next week when my guest is local student and musician Sam Chandler. We will be hearing a couple of his piano pieces in the first hour and he will chat about his inspiration and love of music.
