NIGHTSWIMMING TWO

On Wednesday 15th May I played the seminal Jimmy Eat World Album Bleed American.

An album you wouldn’t necessarily think I would be into but my oh my its a belter. Released in 2001 on my 20th birthday. It is a classic American Album. It is both Radio Friendly and deep. “Side one” is very commercial. Driving Guitars and catchy chorus’s. “Side two” is darker, tinged with sorrow.

If Jimmy Eat world are a band you have heard of but never investigated please! get involved!

Some Facts talked about on the show:

    • Out of concern that the album’s title may be misinterpreted, the album was re-released as the eponymous (Jimmy Eat World) following the September 11 attacks. In addition, the title track was renamed “Salt Sweat Sugar”.
    • Self financed after previous album sold just 10.000 copies
    • “The Middle” was written after Jimmy Eat World had been dropped from Capitol Records after their previous album Clarity had been released. Jimmy Eat World’s first album Static Prevails had sold just 10,000 copies in 1996 and Capitol Records decided to drop the band in 1999 due to a change in priorities. Singer/guitarist Jim Adkins explained to the Dallas Observer: “We were just about invisible there and it wasn’t going to get any better
    • New album – Damage Released on 10 June 2013
