Playlist for 5 April 2013 (AOTW: British Sea Power – Machineries Of Joy)

I’m not normally on air on Friday evenings but I’m on the cover roster tonight, filling in for Elliot who’s taking a two-week break from Amplify. I had a bit of a break myself (which is why I wasn’t on air last night), having come back from two days in York. About 8 hours I was sitting next to the Stamford Bridge battle memorial on the River Derwent, listening to my new album of the week, the wonderful Machineries Of Joy from the transcendent British Sea Power – it’s best listened to in wide open spaces and at historic battle sites.

Tonight’s playlist:

British Sea Power – Machineries Of Joy
Public Service Broadcasting – New Dimensions In Sound
Melody’s Echo Chamber – Mount Hopeless
Perhaps Contraption – Breathe Your Breath
Republica – Christiana Obey
Boxer Rebellion – Diamonds
British Sea Power – Monsters Of Sunderland
Taffy – Tumbling
Edwyn Collins – Dilemma
A*Star-Band – Lotus
Abdoujaparov – Married To The Rock
Tenek – Another Day
Alex Winston – Velvet Elvis
British Sea Power – A Light Above Descending
Everything Everything – Kemosabe
David Bowie – How Does The Grass Grow
Dingus Khan – Made A List
Winter Olympics – Attention All Departments
Modovar – King Of Pain
Wonder Stuff – There There My Dear
Monkey Swallows The Universe – Sheffield Shanty
Universal Disappointment Sponge – The Lost Art of Steeplejacking
Evans The Death – Telling Lies
Bleech – Adrenalin Junkie
Teenage Fanclub – Sparky’s Dream
