See what we dug up today

After a bitterly cold Bank Holiday Easter weekend, it was back to the grind today, but at least the sun was shining down on us.

Being a Tuesday I was pleased to be joined by local historian extraordinaire, FRANCES CLAMP, but first off we had time to slip in one oddball news item. This one concerned an Irish family who, whilst peacefully sitting down to watch some television, were surprised when council workers arrived and started boarding up the house with them inside. Although Dublin City Council denied allegations of false imprisonment, the family claimed that they had to be treated for emotional distress and were awarded damages amounting to £64,000. Following the settlement the family has now moved!

As previously mentioned FRANCES CLAMP arrived to present our BRENTWOOD & BILLERICAY BYGONES feature. Her subject this week concerned the pottery dating from the 1st and 2nd centuries, unearthed in BILLERICAY back in 1974. Listen again to what Frances told me right here: – [audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Bygones-2nd-April.mp3|titles=Bygones 2nd April]

Right that’s me done. See you next Monday. Have a good week til then,

Scott
