In this weather you need a coat – but what about a coat of arms?

Tuesday’s edition of the show means it’s time for Frances Clamp and in today’s BYGONES feature, Frances provided the story of Brentwood’s very own COAT OF ARMS. Fascinating stuff! If you missed it listen again to what Frances uncovered right here: – [audio:https://www.phoenixfm.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Bygones-26th-March.mp3|titles=Bygones 26th March]

We also took a look at a couple of the quirkier stories around at present. Being a lunchtime show I chose two stories associated with eating. The first story was fairly local as it concerned a school on Canvey Island who have just banned triangular shaped flapjacks. The ban follows a child being injured by said flapjack thrown at him by another child. Presumably it was decided that injury would not have occurred had the flapjack been a different shape. Even the Health and Safety executive have described the decision as “half baked”. Now that really is saying something!

The second story concerned a “temporary” hotel which has built in London’s Dean Street, entirely of cake. Indeed if Michelle Ward has already been there, chances are it’s now gone. Probably wouldn’t last 5 minutes in her presence! Only joking Michelle!

Being Bank Holiday I’m not here next Monday so look forward to seeing you next Tuesday. Meantime try to enjoy your Easter in spite of the cold.

All the best,

Scott
