This week i was away from the office on a Training course, to learn of all things how to teach….. well, plan a lesson. the real amazement for me this week, was in fact the so called typical british weather, whilst on this course we had all the seasons in one week- and its only spring.
Highlight of my week has to be seeing Republica play The Garage in Highbury, supported by Saturday Brekfast show Favourite Tenek, who technically were supported by Kovak…. if you get my drift- we had three bands on the bill….bargain.
To tease you further….here is a clip’ette from Kovak…who played a blinding set which really rocked the evening off in great style- I thought, Blondie, Goldfrapp….stunning….
And then there was Tenek…..again teasing us as the band embark on their tour with the Another Day EP to add yet more magic to their arsenal of great songs…
As I say the Headliners – REPUBLICA – Enjoy this lo-tech video of them playing live and in this Youtube vid their hot new single..Christiano Obey. >>
Yup, an awesome little gig – In the show again we had some great new music on todays show- one track has a Dragons Den and Tubeway Army connection…..if you missed that track and indeed the show, don’t fear, because the Music only version of the show is available –At the bottom of this Blog, enjoy.
My gig pick for the week ahead:
Thu 21 Mar Primal Scream -Royal Albert Hall.
The one thing that has remained constant throughout this Scottish rock band’s history is drummer Bobby Gillespie’s presence. The former Jesus and Mary Chain drummer formed the band in 1985 with Jim Beattie who has since left. The group have had Top Ten hits with ‘Rocks/Funky Jam’, ‘Kowalski’ and ‘Country Girl’. The current line-up is Bobby Gillespie (drums), Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield (bass) and touring guitarist Kevin Shields.
Fri 22 Mar Kasabian – Royal Albert Hall.
Kasabian are pop rockers from Leicester who rival Oasis as ‘the lads’ favourite indie band’. They merge electronica influences with head-bashing rock to produce anthemic hits such as ‘Empire’.
Sat 23 Mar Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon- Royal Albert Hall
A Britpop mash-up show as Oasis meets Blur, with Noel, Damon and Graham all performing on the same stage.
My Comedy show pick for the week ahead:
Stand Up For The Comedy School, with Phill Jupitus – 18th Mar 2013 • Comedy Store
Phill Jupitus will be “Standing Up For The Comedy School” at the Comedy Store. Other comedians on the bill include Adam Bloom, Quincy, Arnold Brown, John Moloney and Neil Mullarkey.
Paul Tonkinson — Fancy Man – 21st – 23rd Mar 2013 • Leicester Square Theatre
Time Out Comedian of the Year, Paul Tonkinson, is taking to the road on his eagerly-awaited debut tour — Fancy Man. Expect explosive and tender reflections on love, food, family and the day-to-day idiosyncrasies.
