Friday 22nd of February 2013

On a cold February night I was joined by Trevor and Lydia in the studio. For the last six and a half years Trevor has been the United Reformed Church minister for Brentwood, Billericay and Ingatestone. He talked about his time with the churches and some of the initiatives that have taken place. He particularly emphasised adult education activities and ways of engaging the church with the wider community. He spoke about his new post, based in Edinburgh and covering the whole of Scotland, where he will be helping congregations consider green issues. He also talked about the recent news stories suggest a lack of trust in society because people are not connected.  He brought us in tracks by Rodrigo Y Gabraela, Petula Clark and the Police. In the second hour Lydia talked to us about Les Miserables. We talked about both the film and West End stage productions and we listened to two tracks from the stage performace CD. She was very confident on her radio debut and was congratulated in the chatroom and via the e-mails. We had requests tonight for Steven Seegal and 10cc. We also had tracks from Coldplay, Adele, Lady Antebellum, James Arthur, Andrew Gold, Spandau Ballet, Hazel O’Connor and others. Among our news stories was one reporting a study that showed that men perform best at a job interview if they fidget, while in women is is a sign they will do badly. Now there is something to consider. Join me next week when my studio guest is Rev. Ian Jorjsz, Rural Dean of Brenteood and Vicar of St. Peter’s Church South Weald.
