One 2 Three and we’re off!

It was champers day today for the new show to be looked after by MIKE JONES, BOB SIMPSON and myself, SCOTT ROSS.

First out of the starting blocks today, I had the pleasure of launching the show in all it’s pristine shiny glory. Each edition will be slightly different with guests popping in from time to time. For example Frances Clamp will be joining me tomorrow with our regular historical feature, Mike will be looking at what’s happening in the local political arena and Bob will also be chatting to guests. On his first show on he’ll be talking with TINA TICKLER from Brentwood Community Transport.

But back to today. Being the first show I made it the Maximum Music Monday edition of the show, but still had time to look at a couple of unusual stories you may have missed. The first concerned a 60-year old grandmother accused of hiding a body in the boot of her car. It seems that another motorist saw her stuffing something into her vehicle. Quite why this was considered strange has not been explained, but for whatever reason this individual set off in pursuit of the vehicle and when they saw what they thought was blood “pouring from the boot”, notified the police. The police turned up in force at the car owner’s house only to discover that the “blood” was in fact blackcurrant cough mixture coming from a broken bottle whilst the blood-soaked body turned out to be squashed bags of shopping.

Our second story also involved another woman driving from a supermarket. In this case it was in Sweden and the lady concerned was an 80-year old pensioner who managed to drive home in the wrong car. It seems that the real owner had left their keys in the ignition but the incident only came to light when the daughter of the felon dropped in to see her mother and noticed that the car in the driveway bore no resemblance to her own car. Both cars have now been reunited with their respective owners. There must be something about Swedes and transport issues as it was only last week that we reported on the Swedish cleaner who had been accused of stealing a train. An incident for which she has now been exonerated, although badly hurt having been unable to stop the train at the terminus thereby colliding with a block of luxury flats!

See you again tomorrow when with luck I’ll be able to bring you at least one more item of oddball news.

All the best

Scott
