BSB on its way

Tuesday night was again a focus on the upcoming British Super Bike season. With three men who are all looking forward to April 5th and the start of the season.

First on the phone was Lee Costello, moving up from the super stock 1000’s to the full on super bike for this year. With lots of things still on going there are still no bikes ready to ride. But, still he has plenty of time to get the bikes ready for testing in the coming weeks. Lee feels that he will make the change from stocks to super bike fairly easlely as not a great deal of differne between the two classes.

Next on the phone was the second funniest man in the paddock, Michael Howath, or Howie as he’s know. After starting the season racing a Ducati 1098 with Italsport to changing to the Honda Fireblade CBR1000 with CN Racing. This move come after Danny Buchan took the avalible seat at MSS Kawasaki. Michael has now hung up his race suit and is taking the reigns of a superbike team also using the Kawasaki ZX10R for 2013. This seems to be the manufacturer of choice for this season after British number 1 Shane Byrne took the championship aboard the same bike. Again with lots still to be finalised Howie was not able to give away too much to who he is signing this year. But, with his announcement taking place on Febuary 13th he will be back to give us the full story of what is happening.

Last but not least British Triumph Triple challenge chamion Rob Guiver was in the studio for the two hours talking about he winning season, hopes and planes for the coming season. Rob, always being optermistic is looking forward to the testing so he can finally get his hands on the all new 2013 Triumph Daytona. For all that know this seasons Super Sport championship seems to be attracting many ex-BSB riders this season will be a tough one. Current champion Glen Richards, fellow contry man Billy McConnell are back with Smith’s of Gloucester, last seasons supersport cup winner Glenn Irwin taking the vacant seat at Mar-train Yamaha left by Jack Kennedy. Moving from super bike Stuart Easton joins Gelnn Irwin, super stock 1000 last year, this year on supersport Australian Jason O’Halloran stays with the Samsung Honda team. Gearlink team for this year are two men who battled it out for the 2011 championship and showed the world this is some of the best racing outside of 1000cc superbikes. Ben Wilson teams up with who was the “enemy” Alastair Seeley at Gearlink. Another ex-BSB rider is Scott Smart, Smarty has joined teh Oxford Tag Triumph for this year.

So apart from the normal BSB again the super sports look like a fantastic line up as normal. And not for getting the TTC all eyes with be on young Geordie rider Chrissy Rouse who I think will be in with a shout of taking the the championship to the wire come the final round at Brands Hatch in October.

With a ex-British and world champion in the studio on Tuesday the 12th February keep your eyes on twitter @davieboy106 announcement of who the ex champ coming to the studio will be.
