We managed to persuade the Lovely Eggs to come in for a session for us one Sunday afternoon in February 2011.
We’re normally used to bands coming in and doing an acoustic set, because of space limitations. However they arrived and said we can’t really do acoustic, we’ve got our kit, can we set it up and do it all the same? I said – ooh, might be tricky, because we’re not really sound guys and can’t sort out the levels easily with the broadcast desk. They said, oh no problem, we have our sound guy with us. And so Sound Guy, whose name escapes me now (sorry Sound Guy) set everything up and did a fantastic job – it’s the only time we’ve ever been able to properly record a full drum kit in our studio.
The band did a fantastic job too as you can see from the videos below. As they had just released the single and video for Don’t Look At Me, we didn’t put our session up on Youtube at the time, but the time comes when that little voice in your head says “sod it, I’ve deprived the good people of Brentwood, Billericay and the whole internet the wonder of that magical afternoon”. Plus it’s a nostalgic look at how we used to make bands play in our old messy office as though they were part of the furniture. Hope you enjoy it …
