Tonight I was joined in the studio by Angela Kenny from Operation Christmas Child. She told us about this amazing charity that aims this year to send one million (yes one million!) shoe-boxes filled with small items and gifts to children around the world who will receive nothing at Christmas. She spoke about seeing a clip of the delivery of a box to a child who was previously just playing with a doll that was without a head as the only toy they possessed.  She told us about the warehouse at Unit 11A Hallsford Bridge Industrial Estate, Stondon Road, Ongar CM5 0RX and a coffee morning happening on Saturday 3rd of November, 10-12.

Requests tonight included Florence & the Machine for Lee, Pixie Lott for Eleanor, Beach Boys for Ariadne, Queen for Harry, Hugh Laurie for David, Alison, Anna & Ben, Pet Shop Boys for Phyl and Ollie Murrs and Coldplay for Box in the chatroom. We also had tracks from Peter Sarstead, Peter Gabriel, Sergio Mendes, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Adele, Kenny G, Lady Antebellum, Ramsey Lewis and others. The odd news stories included the best roundabout in the UK as selected by the Roundabout Appreciation Society, who are producing a calendar for 2013 of the twelve best roundabouts. There is an original Christmas gift! The winner has a windmill in the centre and is found in York. We also heard about Eton Style video and a guy making the pilgrimage to Mecca from Solvakia through seven countries including Syria taking no money just a Koran, a Bible and a small rucksack. Join me next week between 8 -10.
