It was pouring with rain tonight as I was joined in the studio by Mary Hill and Jo Rayment from Frontline Partnership. This organisation enables and supports people with learning disability and high support needs to live full and productive lives through their active inclusion, participation and contribution within the Brentwood community and further afield. They talked about how the project began through the closure of a local residential home and that they now work regularly with between 80-100 clients. We heard about some of the projects that are happening in our local area, including a community cafe and work in local schools to develop inclusion. The interviews generated a large number of people listening on-line. Music tonight included requests from Jes for The Police, Phyl & Derek for the Beatles, Mary for Lady Antebellum, Michael  for Freddie and the Dreamers and Mark for Robbie Williams. We also had tracks by Marc Antionne, Joe Sample, Squeeze, Beach Boys, Joni Mitchel, Ami Grant, Fleetwood Mac, Doors and the local unsigned group Boy Meets World, amongst others. News items included a cat running for political office in Canada and the theft of a cardboard policeman from a supermarket in Barnsley who has appeared at a number of parties according to social media. We also had the story about the post box on the platform of Birmingham New Street Station not opened for 23 years, and a 5 star hotel for chickens in Kent. You could not make it all up!
