Two award-winning Brentwood companies have got together to produce a unique beer Calcott Hall Strawberry Blonde – and it was very unlikey that a Phoenix FM presenter wasn’t going to be at the launch!
The day started with a photo shoot amongst the strawberry plants featuring Peter McTurk from Calcott Hall and our very own strawberry blonde, Michelle Ward. Peter and Robert Gunn then had a chat on Michelle’s show where she gave her verdict of the beer, which you can hear below:

Calcott Hall installed new waist-high racking on which to grow their strawberries this year and after a slow start due to the wet weather, the plants produced a bumper crop of large, sweet berries full of flavour.
Unfortunately the strawberry season is coming to an end now but the Strawberry Blonde beer will be available for some time from Calcott Hall Farm Shop and direct from the brewery.
The Brentwood Brewing Company recently won Best Beer at the Cambridge Beer Festival for their BBC2 beer. Calcott Hall was voted best farm shop in Essex for 2011/12 by the Essex Chronicle.
