A unique touch of Brilliance from ULTRAVOX

Today on this glorious Jubilee weekend we had the Brilliant joy of hearing all the new album tracks, from the long awaited album from Ultravox….Called ‘Brilliant’ – The album tipped to be the follow up to Eden, is there first in 26 years and has sparked a UK tour. So no twofers today, but instead we enjoyed the full album spread out over the 3 hour show: see track list…

My Comedy show picks for this week……

Bill Bailey — ‘Qualmpeddler’ – 4th June 2012 • Leicester Square Theatre

Bill Bailey’s new show “Qualmpeddler” is all about his ‘qualms’. Bill has many qualms, chiefly about the modern world, nuclear power, dentists, rare planetary alignments, the spice girls and the Mayan End of Days prophecy.

Simon Amstell, at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire – 7th – 9th June 2012 • O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire

The old “Never Mind The Buzzcocks” host Simon Amstell is back on stage with his painfully, and brilliantly honest stand-up show.

Sean Lock: Work in Progress – 8th – 9th June 2012 • Pleasance Theatre

You’ll recognise Sean Lock from the many comedy and quiz shows that he appears on the telly, including “QI”, “8 Out Of 10 Cats” and “Argumental”. But now he’s returning to stand-up with a series of “Work in Progress”

My music pick for this week;

Tue 05 Jun

Chromatics – Madame JoJo’s, Soho

Taking a cross section from 70s horror films, a fixation with ancient societies, and a love for percussive electronic music.

Tue 05 Jun

Cypress Hill – HMV Forum, London

Harking back to 1991, Cypress Hill can easily claim to be a seminal hiphop group, working with numerous other established artists (Mellow Man Ace, Everlast, House of Pain and Eminem) and placing them firmly on the map of evolution of this style of music.

Fri 08 Jun

Keane – O2 Academy Brixton, London

Emotive rock band laden with spooky melodies and inspiring lyrics.

Fri 08 Jun

Maximo Park – Heaven, London

A popular indie five-piece from Newcastle who are festival favourites across Europe.

Fri 08 Jun

The Charlatans – HMV Hammersmith Apollo, London

Classic indie band from the early Madchester scene in the late eighties are still growing strong and maintain a fanatical laddish fanbase.
