Gills Girls, Agave plants & mashed cauliflower recipe

Monday 5th March

Gill’s Girls – Vintage Style Homewares

Local girls ‘Gill’s Girls,’ Sarah and Sue joined me in the studio to tell me all about the beautiful products and fun home parties they offer to the local community and Essex. Sue and Sarah’s business was started in memory of their mother who they sadly lost to Dementia. Last year Sue and Sarah ran a raffle style fundraiser on behalf of a Dementia charity which they donated at the end of the year. Sue and Sarah are so friendly and warm and I think anyone would welcome them into their home, making them the perfect home party professionals. They can be contacted by email gillsgirls@yahoo.co.uk twitter.com/GillsGirls or facebook.com/gillsgirls but you really need to listen again to get an idea of everything they do and what they’re all about. Gills Girls Interview (starts about 17 minutes into the recording).

nutritious BEFORE processing

Agave sweetener benefits are unproven and processed to such a high degree that they are perhaps depleted of any added benefits over sugar or syrup! Research the process a so called ‘health food’ has been through and read ALL of the ingredients before you part with your pounds – remember the food industry is all about making money.

Boost Productivity – Set a time limit on a piece of work you are going to work on and set a time of day when you do certain pieces of work. You may find working in a formatted way useful e.g. always checking emails first thing in the working day, always making phone calls after lunch etc. Make a list in advance of the working day of what you need to prioritise that day. Alternately make the list as soon as you get into work. Stay focused and try not to get distracted by the internet! Also work in a place or at a time where you are least likely to get distractions. If working from home try and time it with when a lot of the family are out if you know they will distract you when you are at home together. Stop working on a project or take a break when you concentration lapses – it will take twice as long.

Mashed Cauliflower Recipe – if you tend to experience blood sugar level mismanagement or have insulin production issues you may like to lower the GI of your meals. You may also be keen to get more cauliflower in your diet because you are trying to keep your weight steady or because it is a phytonutrient-rich food and high in vitamin C. It is believed that foods such as this and kale, bok choy cabbage, broccoli and Brussels sprouts can reduce the risk of developing cancer as it helps increase immunity to disease and aids the body in healing damaged cells and tissues. The directions are pretty simple as I am sure many of you have mashed potatoes before so here’s the ingredients:

1 large head cauliflower

5 garlic cloves

1/3 cup mixed herbs (or fresh chives and basil)

Splash Soya or oat milk

3 desert spoons plain organic soya yoghurt (optional)

Wednesday 7th March

Local news stories which included ‘Three people tied up and sprayed with “unknown substance” by gang’ and ‘My shock as Harry’s ‘flu’ turned out to be cancer.’ – don’t worry it wasn’t doom and gloom all of Drive! Local weather and local events.

Thursday 8th March

Alan from the FSB joined me to catch up on local business news for Brentwood, Billericay and surrounding.
