World no.47 Squash Pro, Fibromyalgia & Therapeutic Trampolining Centre

Monday 20th -Wednesday 22nd February

I covered lots of local news stories such as the latest update on the new school planned for Sawyers Hall Lane in Brentwood. I also gave a detailed weather forecast (there’s a much better outlook now!) and gave information about some events and opportunities coming up in the near future.

Health Feature of The Week – Fibromyalgia

FMS (fibromyalgia (fi-bro-my-Al-juh) syndrome) is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. Fibromyalgia means pain in the fibrous tissues in the body.

Most patients with fibromyalgia say that they ache all over. Their muscles may feel like they have been pulled or overworked. Sometimes the muscles twitch and at other times they burn. More women than men are afflicted with fibromyalgia, but it shows up in people of all ages.” https://www.ukfibromyalgia.com/what-is-fm.html

(more on Fibromyalgia coming to this page shortly – once I have extracted my own explanation from my pc!)

Lauren Selby – World Number 47 female Squash competitor!

Born in Essex and studied at Brentwood School, Lauren Selby is now not only a Level 3 Squash Coach but a professional athlete! She competes world wide and her work is always spotted by our local newspapers. What a woman! Listen to the time she has to dedicate to her training and nutrition regime and discover more about squash by listening again here: Chatting to no. 47 squash athlete Lauren Selby

Keith Brown from FSB came in to discuss a lot of serious issues this week related to crime in the local area. If you see anything contact crime stoppers on 0800 555 111 or Essex Police 01245 491491.

Tricia Sharpe from Recoil Twisters came in to speak to me about the whole story behind the new trampoline and activity centre that opened last year! It has been such a long and tough journey to bring about the birth of the wonderful facility we have up at Warley. Occupational Therapy ‘BOING’ runs therapeutic trampolining classes from the centre for children and adults for more information call 01277 653537 or email info@boing-theraoy.co.uk

The Trampoline Centre also runs a variety of classes, beginners, ‘just for fun-style classes,’ fitness classes and advanced classes for experienced performers. For more details email mail@springiton.co.uk or call 01277 525991. To jump to the website’s adult class times (and view the rest of the site while your at it) click here:   https://www.springiton.co.uk/page/session_times/
