Pilgrims Hall Christian Centre

Lin from the Pilgrims Hall Christian Centre featured on Wednesday’s Drive show and shared the events coming up at the centre for 2012. She also shared some interesting history of the hall itself and described the grounds that they are situated in and the animals that can be seen there. Pilgrims Hall has a Christian bookshop and resource centre, provides counselling, holds conferences, retreats, seminars and support groups. It has a tea shop open Tuesdays and Fridays at 10am – 4pm and anyone is welcome to either meet and gain comfort from others there, or just spend some quiet time alone. They are holding an open day on Saturday 16th June 12-4pm, where there will be refreshments, cakes and other things they have lined up. Theology and Pastoral Care Courses are held at the centre. Events for 2012 include;  Women’s days (second Thursday of the month), Worship in the Word (last Friday of the month), Six evenings with Steve Maltz, Rabbi Alan, God’s Word for God’s Word, Pilgrims Hall Summer School, Moments of Reflection, An afternoon of music and testimony and more. Hen’s Theatre Company

Emily DeCosimo joined me in the studio on Thursday from the Hens Theatre Company. The Hens Theatre Company specialises in writing, devising and delivering high quality educational plays, workshops and parties – all with a creative and theatrical twist. They have been working in association in Essex County Council to present Café Creative days at the Hermit here in Brentwood. There events so far include Panto in a Day and Café Animation (tomorrow) for ages 11 and upwards. Emily went to St Martins School and when she left she jumped into the self-employment and business owner band wagon and I say, good for her! She loves what she does and she is truly passionate about it. She likes to volunteer and get involved with charity work as well. She would like to do more work for disabled and vulnerable children and adults in the future. To find out more see:

Chatting to Emily DeCosimo from Hens Theatre Company

Danny Davis from the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering joined me in the studio on Friday to give advice about looking for qualified plumbers and stress the importance of getting small problems fixed and the long term financial benefits for being energy and water efficient. I wanted to know all about what you could/could not get away with sticking down the toilet which I think came as a bit of a shock to Danny, but I think he had a good time so will be back to help listeners with their plumbing and heating issues more in the future.
