Local artist Steve Cook, Indian Head Massage and Festive Exercise and Weight control discussion

Monday 19th December

This week got off to a flying start with my first guest Steve Cook joining me in the studio after the beginning of the first Drive show of the week. Steve Cook is a local artist and studied at a college that used to be in Sawyers Hall Lane here in Brentwood. His own art is fantastic (well to my taste anyway!) and he runs painting classes full time. One option is to go along to his water colour painting class, but he runs other classes where you are free to select your own use of media. Steve lets his students explore their own creativity should they chose to do so, he will offer guidance and as much assistance as you request. Listen again to hear loads more about his own background and the classes themselves. The classes are held in Hornchurch opposite the Queens Theatre more is available on the links below:

Chatting to Steve Cook local artist and instructor

Tuesday 20th – Wednesday 21st December:

On Drive I shared a personal development blog post titled ’30 Things to Stop doing to Yourself,’ as this is the time of year where many people try and begin new ventures, make changes in their life, and set themself goals. Its easy and simple to understand and can be found at https://www.marcandangel.com/2011/12/11/30-things-to-stop-doing-to-yourself/ I also covered lots of local events going on over the holiday period and local news that was coming in from various parts in or surrounding Brentwood and Billericay. On wednesday Janine Jackson came in to tell me about Indian Head Massage, why she studied it and completed a local course in it and why it is of benefit. She said it was good for the condition of your hair which I couldn’t believe at first, but after a demonstration (which felt really good by the way), my hair did look and feel a lot better! Here more by clicking on our discussion below. It begins about 20 minutes into the recording.

Indian Head Massage with Janine Jackson

Thursday 22nd – Friday 23rd December

On Drive I covered more local news, events and things listeners had got in touch about. I shared health tips on how to keep your body temperature elevated in the cold weather and useful foods and supplements that increase blood circulation. Then on friday I was joined by fellow health professional Shulagh Jacobs and we discussed festive exercise and nutrition tips. Shulagh and I brought our own material together and only had one disagreement which is quite rare between healthcare professionals from slightly differential backgrounds. Listen again to learn how you can fight the weight gain and stay healthier over the holiday season. More on raising your metabolism can be found here https://www.phoenixfm.com/2011/12/17/aspiring-olympian-chrystalln-on-drive-former-nurse-vicky-davis-speaks-on-first-aid-and-i-share-metabolic-boosters/
