Benfleet and Billericay are the only teams in the division still to taste league defeat this summer — and they lock horns next week. Both sides warmed up for the clash with victories, Benfleet ending Basildon & Pitsea’s unbeaten start to the season, while Billericay defeated Old Parkonians by two wickets.
Hadleigh & Thundersley bounced back from their defeat to Upminster by putting hosts Harold Wood to the sword with a seven-wicket win. A 43 from Kevin Gibson, batting at number seven, offered the hosts brief hope but once he perished, Harold Wood were quickly reduced to 162 all out.
Orsett’s hopes of getting their season back on track were foiled by hosts Upminster on Saturday. Orsett put their hosts into bat and saw them reach a daunting 375-8 from their 50-over allocation. The visitors were bowled out for 170 off 31.5 overs to give Upminster a 205-run win which lifted them to third place in the table, while Orsett are seventh.
