It’s the Ones Who’ve Cracked That the Light Shines Through 08/01/11

Another week and more great music to be heard on this weeks show. 2011 is shaping up to be another great year for album releases and we played some tracks from forthcoming releases including British Sea Power, Yuck, Mogwai, The Fresh And Onlys and The Babies.
Some sad news as well as paid respects to Mick Karn (bassist with Japan) and also Gerry Rafferty.
As promised here are also 2 links as mentioned on the show :

https://www.buzzfeed.com/expresident/15-songs-you-didnt-realize-were-covers

The first link is 15 songs you didn’t realise were covers. Some songs you may already know but a few surprises on there including the original Girls Just Want To Have Fun, which we played on the show. Well Worth a look.

The second link fits in with this weeks 3some, which celebrated the producing talents of Steve Albini, who is said to have produced in the region of 1500 – 2000 albums in his time including the likes of Nirvana, The Wedding Present, Helmet, Bush, Joanna Newsom, Nina Nastasia and many many others. The above link is a piece that he wrote in 1993 entitled “The Problem With Music”. A very interesting article about bands signing to major labels.

We’ll be back next week with more great music.
