The Saturday Kickabout Scores Round Up - Saturday 17th November
Ryman Division One North
Brentwood Town 0 Witham 4
Witham produced a stunning victory at the Brentwood Arena with striker Cody Macdonald scoring a second half hat trick.
Witham keeper Paul Daley had made a fine save to keep out Gareth Street’s header in the tenth minute but almost immediately the visitors took the lead when Chris Neville’s header back to Marc Palmer went over the stranded keeper to give Kaan Hawes a simple tap in. From the restart Danny Carroll’s shot his the underside of the Witham bar and Brentwood continued to make a number of chances.
Joao Carlos was denied on three occasions by Daley as Brentwood looked for an equaliser but there was a warning for the home side before half time when Macdonald twice went close to scoring.
Macdonald broke away in the 57th minute to make it 2-0 with a fine finish and then scored again with a stunning volley in the 69th minute.
It was not Brentwood’s day. Subs Tommy Lee and Leon Diaczuk both hit the woodwork and Daley produced several more good saves from Lee, Sean Thomas and Terry Scotchmer.
Macdonald wrapped it up in the 90th minute from a free kick. His first attempt hit the wall but he drove in the rebound of the underside of the bar.
