Brentwood Town FC - Saturday 27th October Round Up

Ryman Division One North

BRENTWOOD TOWN 1 ENFIELD TOWN 1

These two former Essex Senior League rivals fought out a draw at the Brentwood Arena in their first ever Ryman clash.

A competitive first half saw three early yellow cards for Enfield Town with Brentwood’s Gareth Street and Terry Scotchmer also being booked before half time. The visitors looked a lot stronger at the back than their recent results would suggest but they still needed some good saves from keeper Charlie Hasler to keep out the home forwards.
Ricci Crace had the ball in the Brentwood net in the fifteenth minute after Dave Bastian’s header had rebounded off a post, but Crace was ruled offside.
Hasler conceded a free kick when he handled outside his area in the 21st minute but he made amends with a great save to keep out Chris Neville’s deflected shot.
Hasler then came out to thwart Sean Thomas in the 24th minute when the striker eluded the offside trap. Brentwood keeper Marc Palmer was also in action to stop Crace’s effort a few minutes later.
Leon Diaczuk’s header put Lee Noble through but again Hasler was quick off his line to save.
The goals came in the last ten minutes of the half with Crace scoring for Enfield in the 35th minute before Thomas raced through to equalise a minute before half time. Hasler pushed away a Scotchmer free kick just before the break to keep his side level.

There were fewer chances in the second half and although Brentwood pressed hard in the latter stages they found Hasler still in dominant form. Enfield substitute Darren Grieves was red carded in the 88th minute and Brentwood sub Steve Jones could have snatched a winner in stoppage time but Hasler saved with his legs.

Brentwood Town: Palmer, King, Neville, Scotchmer, Wilson, Street, Carlos, Dafter, Thomas (Carroll 70), Diaczuk (Harrisson 84), Noble (Jones 64)
Attendance: 224
