IT'S PHOENIX FM'S 'PLUCK IDOL’
Here's a chance for youngsters in the Brentwood and Billericay area's to give us a tune and get yourself on the radio..……
Can you play Amy Winehouse on your recorder?
Give a blast of Sean Kingtson's Beautiful Girls on your cornet?
Or maybe bash out a bit of Mark Ronson on your xylophone or ukulele?
The ukulele is back in fashion as primary schools look for a change to the drone of the humble recorder.
And school music lessons are getting more funky too, as kids dump traditionals like Frère Jacques in favour of songs from the current charts.
So here’s the challenge. We want to discover what instruments - and in particular, what up to date songs - young people in the Brentwood and Billericay areas can play.
AND we'll be inviting the best into the Phoenix FM studio to play their song LIVE on Phoenix 98FM during November.
It must be an instrument you can pluck or blow, so that could include recorders, ukuleles or cornets - even bagpipes (instruments that need plugging into the electrics are not allowed) – and you can play on your own or in a small group.
If you would like to take part in our musical challenge, please email ian@phoenixfm.com, saying what instrument and tune you can play. And please remember to get permission from your parents first.
And don’t forget to listen in to WEEKEND Phoenix Rising, Sunday mornings from 7-10am with Ian McGregor, to see if you've been chosen...
