| London APSA's FA Cup reprieve was...
Tuesday 25th September
FA Cup Sponsored by E.ON
1st Qualifying Round
LONDON APSA 0 BRENTWOOD TOWN 4
at the Brentwood Centre)
London APSA's FA Cup reprieve was short-lived as they went out of the competition for the "second" time at the 1st Qualifying Round stage.
The Essex Senior League side got a second chance after Tiptree United were removed from the competition for playing an ineligible player against them in the Preliminary Round.
With the Terrence McMillan Stadium unavailable this rearranged tie was switched to the Brentwood Arena and the Ryman League Division One North Leaders took full advantage of playing at home.
Sean Thomas had a goal disallowed for offside in the first minute before APSA briefly threatened at the other end when Geoff Ocean shot wide from a good position, but from then on Brentwood took almost complete control.
The pace of Thomas and the skill of Danny Carroll up front for Brentwood was too much for the APSA defence who struggled all night to contain these two.
APSA keeper Matt Smith made some fine saves before Brentwood finally took the lead in the 34th minute. Thomas got clear and played the ball sideways to give Lee Noble a simple tap in.
Thomas added the second in the 42nd minute and skipper Danny Dafter headed in a Carroll free kick in the 44th to finish the game as a contest.
Thomas set up Carroll for the fourth goal in the 56th minute and Brentwood, and especially Thomas, could have scored many more.Smith denied both Thomas and Carroll with some more good saves and another Thomas effort hit the crossbar.
Brentwood now meet Harlow Town, at home, in the 2nd Qualifying Round on Saturday 29th September, kick off 3pm.
Brentwood Town: Marc Palmer, Steven King, Chris Neville, Terry Scotchmer, Jonathon Whittaker, Daniel Carroll, Joao Carlos (Riki Holmes 46), Dan Dafter (Gareth Street 72), Sean Thomas, Leon Diaczuk, Lee Noble (Donovan Wilson 46)
