Body Talk - 31st July

My guest this evening was Paul Davy, not Ian Cuthbert as previously advertised. Thanks to Paul for coming in at the last minute.

We had a good discussion about Tai Chi and it's benefits. Paul has been practising for many years and his interest was first sparked by going along to the class and learning about the yin yang symbol. This represents the male and female energies that we have within us and all around. He discovered that Tai Chi wasn't just a form of exercise, but a whole way of life. Learning to live with the fluctuating energies around us and find a balance in between, both with mind and body.

He has suffered with lower back problems and had to sleep on the floor for a while in order to cope with the pain. Tai Chi showed him how to work through that pain and has helped him greatly with his back condition. It is a martial art, but we generally don't recognise it as a form of self defence.

Paul's advice to anyone looking for a class was to just find one locally and try it. There are a few locally, he is based in Walthamstow. Check out the teacher and make sure they have been trained by a qualified practioner. It's suitable for any age and ability. So why not give it a go.
