Another interesting guest joined 'The Bear at Lunchtime' this week to talk about his involvement in a local club.

Doug Waller is the membership secretary for Brentwood Computer Club. The club has been going for over 25 years and was started for people interested in computers in the days of Amstrad, BBCs and Sinclairs!

At first, meeting were held at people’s houses, but soon the membership grew too large, and after several homes, the club base is now at the Fane Memorial Hall in Kelvedon Hatch.

This friendly group meet every Monday (except bank holidays) at 7:30 and once a month has a speaker, or a forum, or a "Hands On" evening for the exchange of ideas.

The club also supports computer recycling and works with another company to send hardware to underdeveloped countries.

Xanthe enjoyed chatting to Doug who was originally a publisher by trade.  Doug and other club members are also involved with a wonderful project recording & photographing the site in South Weald Park for the 2012 Olympic Mountain Bike events.

Our thanks to Doug Waller for coming into the Phoenix FM studio.
