June in Review

What can I say, chaps- Im a busy bunny and its hard to keep this thing up to date, so I think its time for times to change and for me to do a monthly roundup of the happenings on Rising rather than carrying on with being late with things! And then if something interesting happens, I can post up a special page about it and it doesn't get lost in all my weekly musings and all that jazz :D

Well it all seems like a very nice idea in theory, so here goes:

JUNE.... on Phoenix Rising

We got a webcam!- Its very exciting and in case you want to tune in, its on the home page- give it a click and you'll eventually get to the chat room, where you can join in all the fun- It's brilliant, just like a big happy Phoenix Rising family! (Although I do have to keep explaining that my accent is one of English origin, and no... we dont have anything to do with Phoenix in Arizon! Aaaand, one of my lovely listeners made me tshirts, with some of the random phrases from the morning shift and the almighty Ping Pong Bat of Sincerity (if you dont know what it is, you'll have to tune in!) - but take a look!- www.cafepress.com/phoenix98

Aanyway, aside from the webcam, albums of the week for June have been:

The Kooks- Inside In/Inside Out
The Pigeon Detectives- Wait For Me
The Sunshine Underground- Raise the Alarm
Stereophonics- Word Gets Around

I also welcomed into the studio a lot of guests, including...

Local band, the Straights,  who played some of their own stuff in the studio and had a bit of a natter
Derek and Peter from the Ongar Royal British Legion (they're putting on a massive royal tournament-esque event on 15th July- check the event guide for more details- it sounds absolutely immense!
Ashley Caulderwell from Brentwood Borough Council, on the imminent Smoking BanKeith from Brentwood Town FC  on their high hopes for next season and footbally type things in general

Aaand, there were some music masterclasses on the go on Big Beat, Prog Rock and Soul (there's links to the info on the Rising home page- go take a look- Its very informative!

Apart from that, it rained. A lot. And that, ladies and gents, was the month of June on the one and only Phoenix Rising!
