Phil Burdett Live on Drive!

Phil Burdett

I was so over the moon to be joined in the Studio by the singer/songwriter Phil Burdet.

I happened to stumble across Phil at the Wessex Arms (I say stumble but I was mesmerised by his vocals and lyrics) as he was performing a short set on one of their famous open mic nights. I then of course stalked him until he agreed to come to the studio to talk about his life and perform his music.

Phil is shortly going to be performing with The Blockheads (Ian Dury’s old band) along with old friend Phil Jupitus who is currently fronting the band.

Phil’s voice, how can I describe it, like dark treacle oozing slowly onto ones skin coating you – its not sugary and you cant help but want to dip your finger to sample it. Ok so my analogy was rubbish!! That’s the last time I try the "dark treacle" comments! So.. Phil’s voice, it’s a voice that comes from passion, misery, heartache and life experience. His lyrics are thought provoking. Hi lyrics are about his life but the subject matters are experiences that we all share so we can all relate. I call that "the nod" you hear a lyric and you go "oh yeah, that’s it" so you nod to yourself because you have lived it too.

Don’t just take my word for it; if you appreciate great music then check out Phil’s website

www.philburdett.com his new album is out now and available to buy on line.

If you go to Phil’s website you will shortly be able to hear the interview and the three fabulous songs he performed live in the studio.

Love and peace

Michelle
